Canadian author David Morrell created the Green Beret character "John Rambo". The novel was then adapted for screens. Stallone starred in First Blood (1982) together with Richard Crenna & Brian Dennehy. The movie was a surprise movie that was a polarizing success because of its commentary about the Vietnam warthat is still relatively new within the American people's minds. The movie, despite its political stance made it an international hit. A sequel, Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), followed. The film was met with less criticism because of its storyline that claimed American MIAs were being detained by the government of Vietnam. However, they claim that there's not a bad thing in publicity, and "John Rambo's" sequel proved to be the biggest money maker for Stallone and cemented him as one of the biggest male actors of the 1980s. Riding a wave of amazing success, Stallone called on old sparring partner Rocky Balboa to climb back to the ring to defend American honor against the Soviet threat , in the form of a massive Russian boxer named "Ivan Drago" which was played by curt Dolph Lundgren. Rocky IV (1985). While the film's fourth "Rocky" movie was not a hit, it caused controversy with "Rocky" movie fans because its brutal violence, in particular when compared to prior movies. This is particularly evident with the brutal beating Apollo Creed (played by Carl Weathers) received at assault of the "Siberian Express".
